If you plan to submit a proposed resolution the General Assembly, please read this first. The purpose of this post is establish a basic format for GA proposals as well as a formal procedure for voting on them, and standardization of article numbering and the like. This way, the whole thing will be much less confusing for everyone involved and helps ensure that all proposals are heard and voted on fairly.

The proposal should not initially be in the form of a poll. This may seem counter-intuitive, however this would only be temporary. This is to prevent too many proposals from being voted on at once. After you submit the proposal, after the current proposal has been resolved, the Secretary-General will then declare your proposal open for voting and will add a poll to it. The poll options will always be in the form of Aye (Yes), Nay (No), or Abstain.

After your proposal is open for voting, people can vote on it at any time for the following week. People can use the thread to discuss anything they want in relation to the proposal, for example it's potential impact on the region, and determine it's importance. Determining the importance of a proposal is itself important, because significant proposals with potential large impacts on the region or an ongoing war will require a two-thirds majority vote to pass. All other proposals will simply require a simple majority.

You can also abstain from voting if you so choose; this can be done if you don't really care about the legislation being voted on, or if you don't feel well enough informed to make a decision, or you don't feel that you can vote according to your ideals. Abstentions are counted as a No vote in simple majority votes, and a Yes vote in two-thirds majority votes.

Your proposal topic title should follow the pattern of Proposal I, Proposal II, Proposal III, etc. using roman numerals, and a very brief description of what your proposal deals with should be included in the topic description. An example proposal can be viewed here.

Hopefully this was helpful. Good luck!
